Bio

Susan Lehman graduated with honors from California College of Art, Oakland, CA,

going on to explore all that life has to offer. Currently she is walking daily, soaking in the atmosphere of the Southern Oregon Coast; taking that inspiration back to her work in the studio, Susan relishes all that comes her way.

Artist Statement

​

Currently Susan Lehman is working on a series of abstract multi-layered textural nature studies where excess is the key. Layer upon layer of richness both in color and in texture emphasize the movement of the coastal imagery. Thick handmade papers are buried in layers of paint; mica flakes sparkle from beneath layers of dripping paint. Materials are celebrated and used lavishly to create images remembered from the coastal landscape.

Susan is a member of UVAA in Roseburg; Rogue Gallery in Medford; Northwest Collage Society in Seattle; CoCA, Seattle; Woman-Made Gallery in Chicago and volunteers in different capacities at the Coos Art Museum.
